Seva Samajam began its “tryst with destiny” in 1950. From modest beginnings in the form of a single room out fit, it has grown hugely in stature and reputation over the last five decades as an organisation devoted to the rehabilitation, education and upliftment of hundreds of destitute children.
The pre-eminent position that Seva Samajam Children’s Home enjoys today as a caring organisation for destitute children is really a tribute to the missionary zeal of its founder Mrs. Mary Clubwala Jhadav and the splendid work of her successors at the Guild.

Today the home houses around 200 boys and girls and is one among a very few homes with a campus school. The Lady Nye M.R.T.1 Special Higher Secondary School which imparts value based education up to the plus two level.

Every year 95% of the students pass out of 10th and 12th class. In order to widen the scope of employment for these students as well as eligible candidates in and around Chennai, Seva Samajam has collaborated with Madras Round Table No.1 and has established the Seva Samajam M.R.T.1 Teacher Training Institute in Chennai.

The Institute has commenced functioning from the academic session 2005/2006 and presently has a strength of 50 students. The Institute proposes to increase its strength to 100 from the academic session 2006-2007 and is hopeful of getting the necessary approval from the NCTE Bangalore soon.
